The production of the Hs 126 was launched in 1938. Originally, the plane was intended to be used for reconnaissance and artillery fire adjustment. In 1942 some of these planes were modified into light bombers. Although the production of Hs 126 was halted in 1941, the plane remained in service until the end of the World War II.
